Watch Simi In The Video For Her Latest Single, “Selense”

Matches various parts of Simi's set with appropriate and colourful scenes

A few days ago, Simi returned with “Selense”, her first solo single since the release of her sophomore album, ‘Omo Charlie Champagne’. On the track, the singer channels her appreciation for older afropop subgenres, specifically highlife and juju, while also echoing the message of Mike Okri’s classic record, “Time Na Money”.

Over the groovy Vtek-produced beat, she advises listeners against procrastination, and speaks about the importance of working on your dreams in earnest.

She’s just updated “Selense” with a fitting music video, which captures the song’s upbeat nature and retro-inspired feel. In the video directed by Adasa Cookey, portions of Simi’s lyrics are aptly paired with colourful scenes featuring the characters she uses as relatable examples. In the other parts of the video, we see Simi performing alongside a live band, with all members styled in nostalgic fits, while the video closes out with shots from a party scene, displaying the song’s suitability for celebratory settings.
