The 2018 Golden Globes nominations are here, and as usual, there are pockets of outrage across the internet, over who got snubbed and who didn’t. In fairness to everyone who feels slighted by the just released nominations, last year was a better year for diversity in Film and TV with favorites like Marhashela Ali, Viola Davis and more bagging major awards for critically acclaimed roles.

Announced few hours ago by Alfre Woodard, alongside Garrett Hedlund, Kristen Bell, and Sharon Stone, the bulk of this year’s outrage has been directed at the lack of diversity for female directors. Elsewhere favorites like Denzel Washington, Daniel Kaluuya, Issa Rae and Spencer Octavia have gotten nods for their roles in Roman J. Israel Esq, Get Out, Insecure and Shape of Water respectively. The music nominations include songs by Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige

The #GoldenGlobes could have nominated Greta Gerwig, Dee Rees, Jordan Peele or even Patty Jenkins for Best Director. But no, we got five white men. Very disappointed.
