South African patriotism, God's gender and 4 other videos from around the world of pop culture

K.O – “Waya Waya” Feat. Cassper Nyovest

South Africans have shown themselves patriotic through their incision to speak their native dialect on global platforms like Twitter. Though it comes off a little awkward with the cryptic messages that have now become a low hanging fruit for trolls, it has gone a long way in ensuring South African quirks get recognized in international pop culture conversations. K.O and Cassper Nyovest teamed up to similar extent on “Waya Waya” off, K.O’s recently released ‘Two Piece’ EP as both rappers celebrate their prosperity and their culture. Over the trap beat, they spit bars in a mix of English and their native dialect.

Ariana Grande – “God is a Woman”

While we wait for the 3rd of August release of Ariana Grande’s coming album, Sweetener, she has released the video for “God is a Woman”, directed by Dave Meyers. The ethereal video shows Ariana Grande floating in space and naked and covered in a pool of paint as she attempts to convincingly depicts the power of a woman in the strikingly artistic scenes. She is seen sitting on the earth one scene before showing a pregnant illustration of her. The video also recreates Michelangelo’s “Creation of Adam”, except this time, it’s all women.

Since going viral with her “Mad Over You Mashup” last year, Nana Fofie has released her debut single, “Bebe”, with an accompanying video to booth. Her latest release however finds her returning to the studio to record another mashup of Afropop hits, titled “Assurance Mashup”. The new release interpolates Davido’s “Assurance”, Wizkid’s “Come Closer”, Tiwa Savage’s “Get It Now”, Maleek Berry’s “Been Calling”, Tekno’s “Duro” and Sarkodie’s “Adonai”, to a mid-tempo beat Reuben Isaac produces to match the Afropop hit’s catchy melodies. And Nana Fofie takes extra care to hits those notes where the lyrics capture the sentiment behind the songs.

B4Bonah – “Devil Is A Liar (Remix)” Feat. M.anifest

The video Guto Bussab directs for B4Bonah’s “Devil is a Liar” captures the fetish rhetoric of the single from the Ghanaian artist. The remote setting in a dark cave and the dancers wearing face masks echo B4Bonah’s warnings that “Over Here Bad Spirits Dey Work” while he performs the song wearing a leopard skin print jacket and a leather jacket. M.anifest also makes an appearance in the video for “Devil is a Liar” to rap his verse.

Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner on GQ

Travis and Kylie’s relationship has grown from cute to adorable since they had their baby, Stormi Webster, earlier this year. After their first joint feature on the cover of GQ magazine, a video of the couple playing a romantic question game was released where Travis Scott had to answer 23 question about Kylie. He managed to get 20 question correctly, including where they had their first date and her impression of him and was rewarded with a couple kisses on the blue and pink set of the video.

New DC Trailers

The first look at James Wan’s “Aquaman” shows off a war between underwater and surface dwellers with Arthur Curry’s character, Jason Momoa in the middle of it. While some still consider his appearance in “Justice League” as the highlight of the DC film, “Aquaman” is the first time fans will get to see him in action on his own. The trailer features cuts of Aquaman from his childhood to the thrilling battle with his half-brother who wants to wage war with the surface dwellers. The film is slated for a 21st of December release date.

“Shazam” is expected to be released much later, but fans were more than happy to see the teaser trailer showing the lovable teenage hero in the reboot of his 2012 live-action adaptation. The trailer shows hints at the character growth in store for troublemaker-with-a-heart-of-gold Billy Batson (the young boy who magically transforms into the superhero known as Shazam) while also showing lead role, Levi a role requiring him to strike a balance between cool heroic superhero and goofy kid playing dress-up.

The first thing that sticks about the trailer for “Teen Titan GO! to the Movies” is the TV-MA viewers discretion warning.  True to the warning, the trailer does contain strong content with Jason saying “Fuck Batman” after beating the crap out of some supposed thugs on the street. The trailer also shows cuts of Raven doing her witchy things in a dark monochrome shot.
