Doja Cat Enlists P2J for “Addiction” off her latest album, ‘Hot Pink’

They combine to lull dancers into a passionate mood on dancefloors

P2J is no new name around here, and his work has been key in increasing the demand for afropop songs around the world. Beyond some of our best songs here, he’s contributed production for Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Goldlink’s ‘Diaspora’, Beyonce’s ‘The Gift’ and many more.

Now, P2J’s has added to his collection with Doja Cat’s, “Addiction” off her latest album, ‘Hot Pink’, where he expands his range of influences. With the synth-pop fueled sound he produced alongside Ari PenSmith, the groovy drum riff lays over the sultry synth samples. The beat for “Addiction” creates a steamy backdrop for Doja Cat’s seductive performance, as they combine to make a song designed for dancefloors.

Though afropop songs have a similar objective, very few artists take the synth-pop direction with their songs. If P2J chooses to keep exploring this sound, Odunsi is one artist whose music catalogue has shown his prowess with the synth-pop genre and we would love to see it.
