A$AP Wavy’s SoundCloud page establishes him as a budding rap talent with only a handful of released singles. However, his latest single takes an ambitious tone titled, “Veteran Status”, as Wavy teams up with J.E.D to rap over a trap beat comprising eerie piano keys and 808 bass drum riffs. Both rappers ride the laid back groove of the beat to take turns demanding reverence befitting of their rap abilities and affluence.

With his husky voice adding natural gravitas, J.E.D delivers an assertive first verse filled with brash lyrics, and even though he sneaks in the self-effacing lyric, “I’m A Sucker, I Love The Pain”, he remains ever commanding. Wavy closes the song out with a lyrically virtuosic verse, featuring dexterous bars like the attention-grabbing opening couplet: “‘Cos I’m A Vet, and Cos of that I Think I Made Them Nervous/Connected Just Like Cursive On All Of The Beats I Murdered”.
