Olamide & Naira Marley Team Up On Pheelz’s banger, “Gobe”
A worthy follow-up to their previous banger, "Issa Goal"
A worthy follow-up to their previous banger, "Issa Goal"
Although he broke out as a singer, Pheelz has gone on to become one of the more renowned afropop producers of this decade, consistently laying the foundation for some of our favourite hits by Olamide, Adekunle Gold and Tiwa Savage. Tapping into the growing culture of producers releasing their own songs with vocal assists from other artists, Pheelz has just dropped “Gobe”, his first headlining single as a producer, featuring two of the biggest names in the game today, Olamide and Naira Marley.
Catering to each artists’ lively signature sound, Pheelz puts together a fitting beat for “Gobe”, pairing dramatic piano strings with crashing drum synths for a street-ready banger. Matching the beat’s energy, Olamide and Naira Marley deliver a self-assured set filled with funny, streetwise quips. Olamide opens the song with a litany of idiomatic expressions mostly in Yoruba, while also performing the catchy hook. Naira Marley steals the show with the second verse, showcasing the irreverent attitude he’s infamous for and throwing out random nuggets like “ebi a pa t’oba ni’se l’owo (you will be hungry if you don’t work)”.
