It’s a win for both Davido and Wizkid at the MOBO Awards
Nigeria to the world.
Nigeria to the world.
African music continues to push for greatness, amidst what we’re gradually coming to terms with as perhaps one of the most progressive eras for the culture as a whole. Following Wizkid and Davido and a host of other Nigerian artists landing on the international radars last year, more attention has been turned to African popular music and it’s firebrands, even better, some of the rewards are already coming in.
Last Night, both Wizkid and Davido were winners at the MOBO awards, with the former bagging the award for Best International Act Worldwide and the latter winning for the African category of the same award. Congratualtions have been outpouring to both artists since the announcements were made.

With the EMAs conferring a similar title on Davido earlier this month, this MOBO award adds to an increasing row of valid bragging rights for Davido, following what has beeen a rather remarkable year for the OBO. Wizkid also dominated the year with a whole brand revamp and re-alignment of his music and craft for a universal sound. Fandom or no fandom, both wins for Wizkid and Davido are equally satisfying and to be celebrated.
You may see full list of winners from the MOBO awards below but first, 2018 just might be the year we get a Davido and Cardi B joint.
