Rotimikeys Is Taking Center Stage After Years Of Shaping Nigerian Gospel Music

Released in July 2026 together with Greatman Takit, “Good Day” leans into Afrofusion and Soul that have defined Rotimikeys' sound.

It’s difficult to ignore the impact Rotimi Akinfenwa has had on Nigeria’s Gospel music scene. Known as Rotimikeys, the songwriter, sound engineer, and music director has had a hand in some of the works of Nigeria’s music greats. By collaborating with artists like Asa, Simi, Yemi Alade, and Nathaniel Bassey, he’s left his distinct and unique mark on the industry, continuing to do so with his most recent song, “Good Day,” released in July 2026.

Rotimikeys’ sound is best described as inspirational and upbeat. Released in July 2026 and together with Greatman Takit, “Good Day” leans into Afrofusion and Soul that have defined his sound. The song is riddled with lines about gratitude and faith, choosing to see life through a positive lens. The song starts off with a choir declaring how it’s going to be a good day, perpetuating the optimism we see throughout the song. Rotimikeys talks about how he’s living his life without stressing, knowing that whatever happens, God is always behind the wheel.

When Greatman Takit comes in at the halfway mark, his fresh sound is able to flow seamlessly with what Rotimikeys already established in the first verse. He goes on to mention Psalm 23, a bible verse referring to God as a shepherd. The verse talks about how God is a protector and provider for his people, an assertion that’s upheld when Greatman Takit says that God’s blessings continue to shower on him even when he finds it difficult to rise.

In an interview with The Guardian, Rotimikeys reflects on how, after shaping Nigeria’s Gospel music for years, he’s ready to step into the spotlight with singing. “Good Days” is a representation of how he’s able to utilize his years of experience to produce a feel-good track, perfectly capturing his identity as a Christian artist.

Together with Greatman Takit, he’s taken a contemporary approach to Afro-Gospel, coming up with a track that has the ability to uplift even the lowest of spirits. With this song, he’s proven that he’s more than capable of taking centre stage.
